Dog order charge

-

A Stonehouse woman has denied breaching a 15-year order prohibiting her from owning or keeping dogs.

Morag Jackson is also alleged to have obstructed the entrance to her Mid Lanrigg Farm address with her car and repeatedly refused to move when asked to do so by police officers.

The 55-year-old is said to have broken the disqualification order, imposed on August 11 last year, on Tuesday, January 17.

The order had disqualified her from owning or keeping dogs, dealing in dogs – or providing any service relating to dogs – particularly caring for the animals.

She is said to have breached the order by possessing dogs and providing care services for dogs at her Mid Lanrigg Farm address.

Jackson pleaded not guilty to a charge under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006.

She also denied a charge of hindering police officers at Mid Lanrigg Farm on the same date.

Jackson is further alleged to have attacked a female police constable by kicking her on the body at Mid Lanrigg Farm and resisting the officer and her male colleague by struggling violently with them, lashing out, and preventing them from applying handcuffs. She denied charges of assault and resisting police officers.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, Sheriff Vincent Smith set the trial for May 17 with an intermediate diet of April 24.

Bail was granted with the condition that Jackson does not have any dogs at Mid Lanrigg Farm.
