Goal hero Rakish Bingham hopes Hamilton’s Scottish Cup win will give his side a psychological edge over Kilmarnock when the teams meet again in 10 days.

Lee Clark takes his Killie side to the Superseal Stadium on February 4 on league duty and Bingham knows how important a game it is.

But the Englishman hopes his late penalty clincher gives Accies confidence going into their next few games and that it puts them all on a run of form.

Bingham, who last hit the target on November 21 with a brace in a 3-3 home draw with Hearts, said: “It was a very important goal to score for the team.

“On a personal level it’s always good to score but the victory was the most important thing and I think we deserved it.

“That was 11 games without a win, so it’s nice to get that and a clean sheet. I’m sure the team will get some confidence from that.

“It’s important we take each game as it comes but also to go on a run. We played really well and hope we can take that into the league now over the next few games.

“It was a huge win. We have St Johnstone away, Inverness at home and Kilmarnock again at home, so on the psychological side of things it was good to get a win and at Rugby Park, so hopefully that makes a difference.

“Hopefully I can go on a run too. All strikers love goals and goals bring confidence, so why not.”
