Meet the new Still Game trio
Scottish feel to show
Talented performers from the Ups and Downs Theatre company will give their take on life in Craiglang next week when they step out onto the stage as Still Game favourites Jack, Victor and Isa.
Joanne Tonner, of Quarter in Hamilton will star as Isa, Scott Mclellan will play Victor and Paul Callaghan will take on the role as Jack.
The trio will perform as part of the award-winning theatre group made up of children and young adults with Down’s syndrome, and their siblings, when the group present their annual show.
They will tread the boards at Hamilton Town House with Take 22, a show that promises to have a distinctive Scottish feel to it with sketches including characters from Still Game, Francie and Josie, Rev IM Jolly, The Broons and Andy Murray.
This year’s show, will run from Monday to Saturday, March 6 to 11, and the children are busy in rehearsals putting the finishing touches to their performances.
The first act includes a fairy tale called Once Upon A Time.
Then the second act is all about Scotland with scenes with the children performing as our most famous celebrities.
Aaron Jack (18) of Hamilton, who has been in the group for 13 years, pays homage to tennis legend Andy Murray, whose mum Judy came to see the youngsters perform a few years ago.
Angela Jack, president of the club, said: “We’ve had a few celebrities visit our show over the years, including Judy Murray, and only last year we had Paolo Nutini pay us a visit.
“Of course it would be wonderful if the stars of Still Game wanted to come along too – they would be made more than welcome.”
