Son takes plunge for cancer-suffering dad

-

A Hamilton man whose dad has cancer is to take part in a 164fthigh bungee jump to raise money for a cancer charity.

Thirty-one-year-old Fraser Traynor, from Whitehill, will leap from the Titan crane in Clydebank along with five colleagues who work with him in Abellio (Scotrail) customer relations.

The jump, in aid of Cancer Research UK, takes place on May 27.

Fraser’s dad Stuart (61) who lives in Craigneuk, Wishaw, with his girlfriend Irene and Scottish terrier Toby, has suffered from cancer for more than six years.

Fraser said this week: “Dad doesn’t really want me to do the jump, but he knows I’m an adrenaline junkie and would do anything to help charity or just for fun.”

Stuart, originally from Cleland, had been a bricklayer with North Lanarkshire Council before he had to retire early because of his illness.

Fraser pointed out: “Everybody knows my dad as he takes Toby on walks every morning, but due to his cancer he’s been unable to travel much or go long distances.

“Dad has had cancer for more than six years now. It has travelled from his bowel to his liver.

“When he got the all-clear last year we were over the moon, but we’ve now found out it has spread to his lungs.

“My dad is a lovable guy. He has worked all his life but had to retire early because of his illness.

“That’s why I would like to do the jump to help the charity and raise more money for them, so they can try to help my dad survive this horrible disease that kills thousands every year.”
