Council launch their new litter team
North Lanarkshire Council have set up a new Environmental Action Team to tackle issues of litter, graffiti, fly tipping and overgrown shrubbery.
The council are encouraging residents to report any incidences of these problems, which will then be passed to the new squad.
People can call Northline on 01698 403110 or go to www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/report.
“Keeping our streets clean and safe is high priority for our residents and the council,” said Councillor Michael Mcpake, convener of the Environmental Services Committee.
“Most people don’t drop litter and dump rubbish but because of those who do, the council has to spend considerable time and money cleaning up. Residents can help by telling us where they see any environmental issues.”
The team will deal with incidents of litter; overgrown vegetation; graffiti; fly tipping; cleaning road signs; uplifting dead animals; and removing syringes and broken glass.
