Band’s debut EP and music video

Top gigs for Blantyre’s Kris and fellow musicians

- Leona Greenan

A Blantyre man has released his first EP and music video with Lanarkshire band The Dead Settlers.

They have been together for four years and Kris Slaven has announced that Burn With Me is available now on Spotify, itunes, and Google Play. Their video can also be viewed on Youtube.

The four-piece outfit have built up a fantastic following across Glasgow and the west and sold out a gig in the King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut back in January, raising their profile even more.

Welder Kris, who plays drums, said: “Our style is indie/blues rock, similar to the likes of Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Blur and The Stone Roses. But we take influences from many other classic bands such as The Beatles and Led Zepellin, and genres such as pop, grunge and even funk.

“We just like making simple, fun and catchy music with a good hook that people can dance or sing along to.

“We now have plans to try and expand our fan base by playing places in Scotland further afield this year. We played at The Bungalow in Paisley earlier this month and headlined last Sunday night’s Motherwell Makes Music Festival and we are over the moon to be playing Nice ‘N’ Sleazy in Glasgow on Friday, April 28. This is one of our favourite venues so we are all very excited about it.

“We are also playing in Dundee venue Bar 51 on May 19, supporting Fife indie rock band Shambolics. We hope to play more music festivals this summer and do a Scottish tour this year too, as well as record some new music very soon.”

His fellow band members are lead singer Richard of Shawlands, bassist Scott and guitarist Johnny, both of Rutherglen.
