Another medal haul for Lanark

Lanark Amateur Swimming Club took several medals from the third round of the West District Championsh­ips at East Kilbride.

The competitio­n was for 13 years and under, and 14 years and over.

Euan Mcleod (12) had a superb swim to take silver in the 200m butterfly, while Niamh Jeffrey was fifth in the 200m breaststro­ke.

The 14 years and over section brought more success, as Mark Ford was second in the 200m butterfly and team-mate Mitchell Stevenson was third.

Ford was third in the 100m butterfly and Stevenson sixth.

Mark took another bronze in the 50m backstroke.

In the girls’14 years and over Erin Snow won bronze in 200m breaststro­ke and 400m individual medley.

Abbigail Mcarthur was sixth in the 200m backstroke, as was Shiona Mcclaffert­y in the 200m breaststro­ke.

A few days later Ford broke the West District age group record for 50m backstroke at the Edinburgh Internatio­nal meet.
