Mushtaqs looks to curry favour at top industry awards bash

-

Hamilton restaurant Mushtaqs is up for two gongs at the Scottish Curry Awards next week.

Ajmal Mushtaq has been shortlisted in the coveted Chef of the Year category.

And the Almada Street premises are also contenders in the best Home Delivery section.

The restaurant’s chef director, Ajmal ,said: “The competition is very tough and the standard of the competing chefs is exceptional. I am just honoured to be shortlisted in the final.

“Behind the scenes, on a daily basis, the team work incredibly hard to ensure the food is the very best it can be and being shortlisted for the final is great recognition for the efforts of the whole team.”

Mushtaqs – the biggest takeaway operation in Britain – employs 55 people and recently featured on BBC 2’s Best of British Takeaways as the Best Takeaway in Scotland.

TV show host and double-michelin Star chef Tom Kerridge said:“i bore witness to the jaw-dropping takeaway operation at Mushtaqs. I’ve never seen so much fresh food being cooked and served so quickly – it’s like a military operation with total focus on quality.”

The tenth annual Scottish Curry Awards will take place next Monday, April 24, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Glasgow.

Hans Raj Ram, chief executive of main sponsor Goldstar Chefs, said: “Each year the competition gets tougher and tougher. This year it is going to be very tough for the judges. I wish all the finalists the very best of luck.”
