It was another busy week on the Hamilton Advertiser’s social media pages.

One story that many of our readers commented on was about the father-of-three who was killed while working on a building site in High Blantyre last Wednesday morning.

Mary Ann Brady said:“rip, thinking of your family at this sad time.”

Mandy Main posted:“rip. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.you don’t think going to work that day would be the last thing you do. Such a sad thing to happen, can only send my condolences to his family. Sleep tight sir.”

Cathie Russell said:“thoughts and prayers are with the family.” And Trish Logue posted:“so very sad.” Another story that got many of our readers talking was about a popular Hamilton barber shop which is celebrating 70 years of trade in the town.

Campbell’s Barbers was opened in 1947 by Alex Campbell when he returned from his duties in World War II at the then site of 33 Chapel Street.

Pat Mcghie said:“i remember taking my brother for his haircut. He screamed the place down, we had to hold him in the chair every time.”

Elizabeth Brady Markson said:“they were the barbers to go to then. It always had a queue waiting. 70 years? Well done.”

Stephen Boyd said:“best barbers about.” Lindsey Seatter posted:“lovely story.” Another story which got a lot of you talking was about the mini-roundabout at Bothwell Bridge, which links Hamilton and Bothwell Road (B7071). It is being replaced by three-way traffic signals as part of the £500m M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements Project.

Elliott Alison Simpson said:“how will traffic lights at the end of Bothwell Bridge cope when there is racing at Hamilton Park and all the intersections on Bothwell Road are closed?

“Up to now traffic coming out of Hamilton going to the races goes over the bridge, round the mini roundabout and back towards Hamilton.”

Nicola Govan posted:“how can a roundabout not cope with the traffic? I’ve never been held up at that roundabout, but I will now certainly be held up if traffic lights there. Don’t fix what isn’t broken!”

Graham Boyle said:“how does it take this length of time to scrape up the roundabout and erect traffic lights?”
