Bat and chain attack denied

Two Viewpark men have denied attacking a man with a baseball bat and chain.

Neighbours Brian Hope and George Mollon, of Merrick Terrace, are alleged to have assaulted Martin Clements to his injury with the weapons at Market Place in Viewpark on Monday, April 24.

Hope (24) also denied having a baseball bat without reasonable excuse and 37-year-old Mollon denied having a chain.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday, Sheriff Andrew Mcintyre set the trial for May 31 with an intermediate diet for May 18.

Mollon was granted bail, but Sheriff Mcintyre refused Hope bail and he was detained in custody meantime.
