Vandalised swing to be replaced
A swing set alight at Alexander Hamilton Memorial Park is to be replaced, after funding was secured through South Lanarkshire Council.
Local councillor Margaret Cooper met with representatives at the authority following the fire on Thursday, April 13.
She said: “I am delighted that, following discussion with council officers, replacement play equipment and carpet will be provided for the burnt out area in the park.
“I have secured the funding for this from the council but cannot thank enough the businessmen who offered to pay.
“The replacement will take a wee while as the cup swing has to come from a German company.
“Thanks to everyone for your overwhelming support and I am so glad that I can get this repaired for us.”
She continued: “On another note, the 20 colourful trees I had ordered some time ago have also arrived and we will be looking for prominent places to plant these to help brighten up the village.
“They are a good starting size - so any ideas let me know.”
FOSP secretary Karen Kelly added: “We are delighted that the swing will be replaced, and are pleased to continue working with SLC and all organisations to make the park an enjoyable safe space for all.”
