Harvest Christian Fellowship

We meet every Sunday, 10.30am in the Hillhouse Community Centre, 121 Hillhouse Road, Hamilton, ML3 9TX. Please come along and enjoy spirit-filled worship along with a Bible-based message. We also have Childrens/youth Church and Creche during the service.

Monday Club and Monday Night Live for primary school children and teenagers takes place at 7pm at Hillhouse.

Hamilton Old Parish Church

Our Sunday Service is at 10.45am with worship being led by Reverend Ross Blackman. For our younger members during the service there is a creche and Sunday Live! in the halls. After the service, join us for fellowship over a tea or coffee in the halls.

Our Badminton Club meet on Monday evening at 7pm in the north hall. Tuesday evening, the Brownies start at 6.15pm in the north hall. Also on Tuesday, members of the Property Committee should meet at 7pm in the halls. All sections of the Boys’ Brigade meet from 5.30pm on Wednesday with the choir meeting at 7pm.

Hamilton West Parish Church

Our next service will be on Sunday, April 30, at 11.30am and will be led by our Interim Moderator the Reverend Alasdair Gordon. All are invited to come and join us, come that bit early and enjoy a coffee or tea and a chat before the service starts. There is a Sunday school and creche on during the service in the church more children would be made welcome as with all the other organisati­ons who are now back in full swing.

St John The Baptist Church, Uddingston

The Mary’s Meals annual raffle and rags-to-riches collection will take place this weekend April 29 and 30.

A van will come to collect bags on Sunday morning and stay for approximat­ely 30 minutes after the noon Mass. They are only able to accept textiles (eg clothes, bags, shoes, etc).

Some places are available for the next pilgrimage to Medjugorje on June 28. The cost is £679 for a week half board.

Masses and services from our parish are available on the web. Go to www. saintjohnb­aptist.org and click on the box that says ‘live cam’. On Monday the Padre Pio Prayer Group meet after the 9.30am Mass and a silent prayer vigil for life is held from 8pm-9pm in the Oratory. The SVDP meet at 6.30pm on Tuesday and the RCIA group meet at 7.30pm in the small hall. On Wednesdays a Divine Mercy Hour begins at 7pm in the Oratory and a Prayer and Praise Group from 8pm - 9pm. The prayer garden is open Mondays to Saturdays 10am7pm. Church cleaning is on Friday mornings after Mass if anyone would like to help.

Sunday Masses: vigil 4.30pm, 10am, noon, 6pm. Weekday Mass: 9.30am daily. Confession­s: Saturday 9am9.25am and after vigil Mass.

Gilmour and Whitehill Church

On Sunday, April 30, our service will be conducted by Rev Alasdair Gordon. A warm welcome awaits all who come through our open door.

Why not join us we start at 10am? The Sunday School teachers look forward to more children coming along so lay aside ipads, tablets and ‘phones and come along.

In the afternoon our Outreach Team will visit the residents in Aberglen Care Home and will share worship with them.

On Tuesday, April 25, our premises are being used to host a Volunteers Day for LEAP and we are happy to assist in this way.

On Thursday, April 27, a reminder that the Memories Tea-room will be open from 1pm to 3pm. Staff from Udston Hospital, Alzheimer’s Scotland and Lanarkshir­e Carers’ Network will be in attendance for anyone in need of advice or guidance. Our ‘Girls’ who serve are all in agreement that they go home feeling uplifted by being able to help.

We are currently compiling the summer issue of our church magazine and would love to receive articles for inclusion. We have a summer quiz on sale and also tickets are available for our grand prize draw.

Our coffee lounge is open every weekday 10am till noon. There is always a friendly face to welcome you and usually John’s crosswords to solve.

Blantyre Livingston­e Memorial Parish Church

The joint service on Tuesday will commence at 7pm which will be the Induction of Reverend Murdo Macdonald. This is a joint service with St Andrew’s Parish Church. All are welcome to attend. Please come and support our new minister in this very special service. Following the service there will be a social event in the large hall, which will include refreshmen­ts. The Preaching In Service of Reverend Murdo Macdonald will be held in Livingston­e Memorial Parish Church on Sunday, April 30, at 11.30am. This is a joint service with St Andrew’s Parish Church and the service will be followed by light refreshmen­ts in the large. All are welcome to attend.

St Machan’s Parish Church

Worship on Sunday, April 30, starts at 11am. The Praise Band will lead the singing. A creche is available for babies and children up to three years and this runs from 10.45am. The Sunday Fun Club runs from 11am in the church hall. This is an hour of fun for children from three years to 11 years. The older children have their own programme to follow whilst the younger ones have crafts, songs, stories and a short film. Come and join us, you will be made most welcome. The St Machan’s Walking Group will meet on Tuesday, April 2 at 10.30am behind the church in Marshall Street.

St John’s Church Hamilton

Morning Worship at St John’s Church Hamilton will be led by Rev Joanne Hood at 10.45am on April 30, and the evening service also led by Rev Hood will be held at 6.30pm when all will be made most welcome. A crèche is available for younger children during the morning service while older children attend Sunday Blast.

Holy Week Offerings amounted to £2481, which will be donated to the Drop-in Centre and Jubilee Key Scheme.

The midweek service will be held in the Church Sanctuary on Thursday, April 27, at 12.15pm.

The Brownies are collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers and they may be donated in the box in the Forum.

St John’s Centre, Book Corner and Chapel will be closed on Monday, May 1, re-opening Tuesday, May 2 to Saturday, May 6, 10am to 4pm.

Dalserf Church

Boys’ Brigade meet tonight, April 27, in Rorison Church, Ashgill. Prayer Group in Hamilton Hall, Dalserf on Sundays from 11.10am.

Sunday Worship on April 30, in Dalserf Church at 11.30am will be a Songs of Praise Service.

Boys’ Brigade meets on Thursday, May 4 in Rorison Church, Ashgill. Nursing Homes in Ashgill will be visited on Friday, April 28, staring at 1.45pm in Clinton House and following on to Ballantyne Court Units A & B.

Dalserf Open Day will take place on Saturday, May 6, with the usual stalls and our Saturday teas will begin on Saturday, May 13, with the usual delicious choice of home baking.

Hamilton United Reformed Church

Our Morning Service on Sunday, April 30, will be led by Reverend Derek Corner, retired United Reformed Church minister, and will begin at 11.30am.

This will be followed by refreshmen­ts served in the hall.

Please remember the basket is still in the vestibule for the Hamilton Foodbank.

Blantyre Old Church

Morning worship on Sunday will be led by Reverend Sarah Ross at 11am. Sunday Club meet as usual.

Tea and coffee will be served in the hall at close of the service.

This Friday, April 28, we are hosting a live recording of Radio 4 ‘Any Questions’ chaired by Jonathan Dimbleby.

Panellists are Labour Leader Kezia Dugdale, SNP Minister for Social Security Jeane Freeman and Fraser Nelson, Editor of The Spectator.

ABC of Disciplesh­ip Course starts on Thursday, May 11, at 1pm and weekly on May 18 and 25 and June 1. This is open to anyone wishing to become a member or anyone interested in learning more about faith.

Paraclesis – Journeying Together. This is a six-week course looking at caring for each other, supporting each other through the ups and downs of life. There will be six Sunday services with the larger theme, and then Group Discussion on Thursdays at 7.15pm to discuss the sermon, the theme and more. The Group Discussion will run from May 4, 11, 18 and June 1, 8, 15. Open to all because we all are called to journey together. In conjunctio­n with Ederra Bridal Studio and Complexion­s Beauty Salon we are hold a Wedding Fayre on Friday, May 19, from 7.30 – 9.30pm. Come along and meet wedding suppliers and plan your perfect day. Entry is free.

Hamilton South Parish Church

Reverend Donald Lawrie will conduct the service on Sunday at 11.15am. The Sunday School will meet during the service. If anyone is interested in going to the Heart and Soul event in Edinburgh in May will they please give their names to Session Clerk Joanne Kennedy.

There is an Elders Safeguardi­ng Training Session on Saturday, May 6, from 10am till noon.

Tea, coffee will be served from 9.45am. Will Elders who intend to be present please give their names to Safeguardi­ng Officer Jaqui Lawrie. On Monday the Craft Sharing Group meet at 10am and the Prayer Group at 6.30pm. The Wednesday Fellowship meets at 9.30am followed by the Coffee Shop at 10am, and in the evening the Snowdrops meet at 6pm. On Thursday, the Bible Study Group meet at 7.30pm. The Guides are now in recess until after the summer holidays. Last Sunday the Reverend Gordon Reid conducted the service and had the children enthralled with a ‘quiz by numbers’. and animated with ‘gossiping Jesus’, he carried this theme on in his sermon and the Congregati­on soon got the message that ‘it’s good to gossip Jesus’. Readers were Liz Baird and Isobel Lindsay.

Hamilton Baptist Church

On Saturday, April 29, the second session of a free six week course called “Parenting from the Heart” will be held from 10am to 11.30 am. This is for mums and dads of children aged 0 to 11 years. Child care and breakfast rolls will be provided. Everyone is welcome even if they didn’t attend the first session. On Sunday, April 30, there will be a short Communion Service at 9.45am. The morning service (at 10.45am) will be led by the Senior Pastor, David Wilson, and will include an act of baptism. Baptist churches practice “Believers Baptism” by immersion which symbolises the person identifyin­g with Christ in his death and resurrecti­on. The evening service (at 6.30pm) will also be a youth-focused SOUL service led by Terry Mccutcheon. After the morning service, two members of the congregati­on will be available to pray with anyone feeling the need of prayer. A light lunch will be served in the halls after the morning service and everyone is encouraged to join in this time of informal fellowship. The guest at the Mission Focus Prayer Meeting on Wednesday (May 3) will be Kenny Mckie from Scripture Union, Scotland and he will give a report of the work of SU overseas.
