Glassford SWI On April 13 the Rural held an interesting craft night. Vicepresident Sheila Moore welcomed members and guest speaker Margaret Hamilton, who displayed some of her own lovely examples of needlework and card making. Some of the ladies tried cutting out interesting shapes to enhance their cards The vote of thanks was given by Marion Russell. Competition wintea ners: Hand-made pin cushion – 1st, Irene French; 2nd, Sheila Moore; 3rd, Marion Armour. Favourite sewing aid – 1st, Francis Smith; 2nd, Irene French; 3rd, Alison Brisbane. A lovely supper and the raffle finished the evening. On May 11 the club will hold its AGM and the flower show competitions will be held and trophies handed out. The baking competition will be plate apple tart (shortcrust). The knitting competition will be the lady’s summer top (four ply). The senior competition is any article of craft, chutney and handicrafts shopping bag (any medium). Honorary President’s Trophy competition is the lemon drizzle Loaf. Supper and raffle to follow. New members are welcome.
