South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership (SLH&SCP) have received a significant response after signing up to the international Breaking the Rules for Better Care campaign.

The aim was to get ideas from staff and people who use the partnership’s services – in order to improve health and care.

Marianne Hayward, head of health at SLH&SCP, led the campaign in the area and said:“first and foremost, I’d like to offer a sincere thank you to everyone who participated.

“When we set out, we asked staff and partners across SLH&SCP and, crucially, people who use health and social care, to help us identify and share the wellintentioned rules, habits, policies and procedures that get in the way of delivering the very best care possible.

“This campaign provided our partnership an opportunity to engage with people throughout South Lanarkshire – with a view to eliciting real change that matters to them.”

She added:“the response was significant with many positive suggestions about how we can make improvements throughout our services.

“This campaign has been illuminating, it’s been inspiring and ultimately we intend that it will be impactful. We’re currently looking at how to use the responses to inform our short, medium and long term priorities. We’ll be feeding back on this in the near future.”

People were asked‘if you could break or change one rule to create better care for people in South Lanarkshire, what would it be and why?’
