Have a splashing time on water
Strathclyde Loch Sailing Club are taking part in the RYA Push The Boat Out campaign, which this weekend allows people from North Lanarkshire to get out on the water.
Strathclyde Park will take part on Saturday and Sunday, from 11am to 4pm, offering sailing and windsurfing.
There will be more chances for an open day experience somewhere in Scotland, as the campaign runs until May 21.
Alistair Dickson, RYA director of sport development, commented: “Sailing is such an accessible sport and many people aren’t aware of the opportunities available close to them, or how affordable the sport can be – Push the Boat Out is all about making that connection.
“With many of the events free and the rest under £10, they make a fantastic day out.”
Anybody who is nervous about trying the sports out for the first time can be assured there will be others in the same position.
Boats and safety equipment will be provided, with participants just needing to bring a towel and to wear warm clothing that they don’t mind getting wet.
Alistair continued:“the local sailing clubs are all aiming to ensure that there is something for everyone to enjoy, so bring your friends and family along to enjoy all there is on offer, both on the shore and on the water.”
