-

Lanark and Hamilton East Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate Poppy Corbett promises to be“a strong voice for the constituency”if she is elected on Thursday, June 8.

She was elected as a Conservative councillor for the Clydesdale West ward recently where she topped the poll with more than 2000 votes.

She said she is firmly opposed to the SNP’S plans for a second independence referendum.

The businesswoman lives in the village of Rosebank.

She has been the HR manager for her family electronics business in Larkhall for over 20 years.

She claimed that only the Conservatives can beat the SNP in Lanark and Hamilton East. She commented:“i am relishing the prospect of this General Election.

“It is clear following the local council elections, it is only the Scottish Conservatives who can defeat the SNP here and oppose their plans for another divisive referendum. It is a huge honour to be selected to stand in an area where I have lived and worked for most of my life and if elected I won’t let voters down.

“I will be a strong voice for this area on the issues that matter to people here such as attracting jobs and investment to this area.

“I will be pushing for better transport links and working with operators to deliver improvements in broadband and mobile reception.”

She said she has a strong message for voters, adding: “Even if you have not voted Conservative before, if you want to send the SNP a message on June 8, then you should lend me your vote in order to show that Lanark and Hamilton East say no to a second referendum.”
