Affordable housing planis approved
Plans for homes on undeveloped land in Hamilton’s Little Earnock were given the green light this week.
The council’s plans for 26 affordable housing units, on land associated with the original Peter’s Primary School off Highstonehall Road, were approved by South Lanarkshire’s planning committee on Tuesday.
The land was declared surplus to educational requirements when the replacement St Peter’s primary school was built as part of the schools modernisation programme.
Planning chief Michael Mcglynn told councillors: “The development of the site with a modern housing development will enhance the general amenity of the area for the benefit of all its residents.
“The development meets current requirements in terms of parking standards and is acceptable in road safety terms.
“No specific concerns have been raised by the various consultees and any requirements can be addressed through the use of appropriately worded conditions...where it is appropriate to do so.
“Furthermore, it is noted that no third party representations were received in respect of the development.”
