Amy wins Miss Grand Scotland Next stop Vietnam for international final
A Hamilton beauty is celebrating after winning the title of Miss Grand Scotland 2017.
Amy Meisak fought off the tough competition to take home the prestigious crown.
And she will now be jetting off to Vietnam in October to compete at Miss Grand International.
Amy said: “I am so excited to be going to Vietnam. It’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit and to know I’m going there as part of Miss Grand International is so exciting.
“It’s somewhere I’ve never been before and I’m so proud to be representing Scotland.
“I can’t wait to meet all the other contestants and have the trip of a lifetime in October.
“I was so shocked and overwhelmed – it’s still all sinking in for me.
“One of my best friends, Kirsty Martin, who is a local make-up artist, sponsored me for the pageant and travelled down to give me a makeover for the show.
“I felt so blessed when friends from all over the UK came to watch and support me, cheering me on as I was on stage.
“My phone and social media have been going crazy ever since I won. I’m still getting round to replying to all the messages.”
Amy travelled south to Lancashire for the UK Power Pageant – which crowns the UK winners for Miss International, Miss Intercontinental and Miss Grand International.
At a glamorous two-day event in the Park Hall Hotel, contestants took part in photoshoots, a bootcamp session, afternoon tea, interviews and the final itself.
All of the women raised money for The Christie, a cancer charity based in Manchester, and Amy added: “On the lead up to the UK final I raised money for the Christie charity.
“Unfortunately, my family has been badly affected by cancer in the last year so it gave my fundraising a lot of meaning.”
Amy is no stranger to the pageant world, as she is a former Miss Earth Scotland and placed in the Top 16 when she competed at the international final.
The 23-year-old also made it through to the final of Miss Scotland last year.
Holly Pirrie, director of the UK Power Pageant, said: “Amy will make such a fantastic Miss Grand Scotland.
“She has worked really hard and is such a great representative of the Miss Grand UK organisation.
“She is going to have the most incredible time at the Miss Grand International final in Vietnam.”
Amy will spend three weeks touring Vietnam and taking part in photoshoots before representing Scotland on the Miss Grand International stage.
