Larkhallwoman deniesasbobreach

A Larkhall woman has denied attacking a woman, and breaching an ASBO by shouting and swearing at her and a man.

Angela Morton, of Glen Avenue, is also charged with assaulting the woman, Jordan Bell, and challenging others to fight in Larkhall and Motherwell Police Office and during a journey between the two locations in a police vehicle last Sunday, June 18.

Morton (55) pleaded not guilty to a charge under the ASBO (Scotland) Act 2004 when she appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court from custody on Monday.

She is alleged to have breached an ASBO, imposed at Hamilton Sheriff Court on January 27, by repeatedly shouting and swearing at Jordan Bell and William Porter, and while she was on bail on another matter.

The ASBO prohibited Morton from shouting, talking, screaming, banging doors or walls and playing amplified sounds – music, TV or otherwise – within her Glen Avenue home, verbally abusing, or threatening or assaulting anyone in Larkhall.

Morton also denied assaulting Jordan Bell by seizing her by the body, pulling her to the ground, seizing and pulling her hair and punching her on the head while subject to the ASBO and while on bail – along with a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by repeatedly shouting and swearing, challenging others to fight and uttering threats of violence at Glen Avenue, Larkhall, Motherwell Police Office and during the course of a journey between the locations while subject to the ASBO and bail conditions.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, Sheriff Allan Mckay set the trial for July 18 with an intermediate diet of July 6. He refused Morton bail and she was remanded in custody meantime.
