- David Bell

Lesmahagow have signed goalkeeper Dan Tobin from Carluke Rovers, defender/ midfielder Michael Brunton from Bellshill and Carluke forward Lewis Mcdougall.

That boosts their pool after nine of last season’s squad extended their deals, but two are leaving.

Darren Lygate, Scott Cumming, Paul Mcvey, Steven Clark, Ryan Cherry, Jordan Whitefield, Stewart Leishman, Jordan Lithgow and Craig Steele are signing on again.

Heading out of Craighead Park are Jon Mcstay, who has signed for Larkhall Thistle, and striker Jackie Currie, who has signed for Faulhouse United.

Manager Robert Irving said: “In all my years in football I have never known a horrendous season like the one we just had.

“We were never able to field the same team two weeks in a row, due to injuries, many of them serious and long-term.”

Lesmahagow will start their pre-season training on Monday, July 3, when new signings will join up with the existing squad.

Irving hopes to mount a title challenge this season.
