County boys keep Inter-area title
Lanarkshire Boys retained the Scottish Boys’inter-area Championship with an excellent win over Stranraer on Sunday.
The foundation was set in the morning with a superb 67 from last year’s winning team members Greg Dalziel and Lewis Irvine, which was three under-par, and a 76 from new boys Scott Thomson and Kieran Mcallister, which gave Lanarkshire a joint halfway lead with Fife.
Steady rounds in the afternoon from the four boys ensured a one-stroke victory.
Greg and Lewis will have a chance next year to go for a unique three in a row.
The winning team was: Greg Dalziel (Airdrie), Lewis Irvine (Kirkhill), Scott Thomson (Drumpellier), Kieran Mcallister (Easter Moffat). The team manager was Ian Rankin of Colville Park.
