Semi-final for Dunn

-

Motherwell’s Alex Dunn’s doubles challenge at the Spain International in Madrid ended at the semi-final stage.

Dunn and partner Adam Hall lost to Dutch pair Jacco Arends and Ruben Jille 21-19 21-12.

The Scottish duo had reached the last eight without hitting a shuttle after a first-round bye, followed by a walkover against Bulgaria’s Peyo Boichinov and Ivan Panev.

Finally, Dunn and Hall got on court to face Miroki Okamura and Masayuki Onodera, who beat Joshua and Sam Magee of Ireland and third seeds Matijs Dierickx and Freek Golinksi of Belgium on the way to the quarter-finals.

Dunn and Hall booked their place in the semi-finals when they defeated the Japanese pair 21-19 21-17.

However, they bowed out in the semi-finals against Arends and Jille, a Dutch pair who are ranked nearly 100 places higher at No.65 in the world.
