Man denies thieving keys from vehicle

-

A Blantyre man has denied possessing a number of tools at a town address in suspicious circumstances.

John Mcnulty Martin, of Millands Avenue, is alleged to have had pliers and two screwdrivers at a house in Blantyre’s Lochalsh Place on May 28 this year.

The charge states it could reasonably be inferred from the possession of these items Martin had committed theft or intended to commit theft and was unable to demonstrate they were not for the purposes of committing theft.

The 44-year-old also denied entering an unlocked car at the same Lochalsh Place address on the same date and stealing a set of house keys. Martin further denied a charge of stealing a racing pedal bike from another Lochalsh Place address.

All of the charges allege that Martin was on bail at the time.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, Sheriff Andrew Mcintyre set the trial for August 16 with an intermediate diet of July 20.

Bail was granted meantime.
