Boys land haul of medals in Perth
It was the turn of the boys of Hamilton Gymnastics Club to shine at the recent Scottish Gymnastics Men’s Artistic Grades Series 2 and floor and vault competitions in Perth.
All age groups of the club’s boys’ section got into the medals with some impressive performances.
Some of the youngest competitors in the team competed for the very first time and their results were fantastic.
In the floor and vault competition, Douglas Livingston came third, Lucas Duguid came in fifth and seventh place went to Riley Stoddart.
Douglas, Lucas and Riley, along with team members Paul Rough and Rory Dalziel took the gold medal in the team event.
In the Grades competition, the places kept coming for the older boys.
In Pre Club Grade 1, Mitchell Selkirk placed fifth and Toby Adam seventh.
In Club Grade 1, Aaron Gregory took silver and Cameron Falconer bronze, with Jak Weir coming fourth and Caiden Malone in fifth place.
In Club Grade 2, Casey Flynn placed 4th.
Andrew Dickie took the silver medal in Club Grade 3, and Tom Beattie came 9th in Club Grade 4.
Mens Artistic coach Shona Grigor said: “They all did brilliantly, especially those who were in competition for the very first time. The hard work in the gym is paying off.”
Last week the boys’ section had a bit of fun out of the gym in their first fundraising venture.
A summer beach party at the Greenfield Club in Hamilton managed to raise £1000 for new equipment for the team’s new gym facility due to open at the end of the summer.
