Join in the summer fun

Weeks of Hillhouse activities

- Kirsten Mcstay

Hillhouse and Earnock Community Centre will host a range of fun, free and exciting activities over the summer holidays.

The organised events are open for all Hillhouse residents to enjoy and are to be used as an opportunity for people to spend time with their families and take part in a range of fun and games.

Community development workers Liz Jamieson and Jacqueline Queen, from Community Links, have been busy organising the six-week summer programme for children and families to enjoy.

Themed events will include: A traditional games day on July 13; health and wellbeing day on July 20; environmental games day on July 23; a scrapbook/ memoirs day on August 3; and a digital fun session on August 10.

Paul Hayward, social marketing officer for Community Links, said: “The summer holidays are a great way of spending good, quality time with your children and family.

“However some activities can be costly and not everyone can afford to keep the kids entertained all through the summer.

“The events in Hillhouse are open to all families and children and we welcome everyone to come along and enjoy activities on offer. Some weeks we’ll be playing good old-fashioned board games, other weeks we will have face painting, a bouncy castle and arts ‘n’ crafts, and on the last week we will be having a ‘digital day’ where we will have a range of gaming technology for kids and parents to come along and try.

“You don’t need to book a place for the events – just come along and we look forward to seeing you on the day!”

The events will take place in Hillhouse and Earnock Community Centre every Thursday between 1pm and 3pm during the school summer holidays and are all free of charge.
