Lanarkshire children’s charity Project Gambia: People Feeding People this week announced they are to host their first ever grand summer ball.

The organisation support St John’s School for the Deaf in Serrekunda, where almost 300 children with hearing disabilities attend to learn each day.

They have helped the West African youngsters through a variety of measures including setting up a feeding programme that sees each child receive a proper meal every single day.

The charity’s summer ball will take place next year and include the Louise Mehan and Soulutions as the headline act, along with hilarious comedian Gary Little as the host and MC for the evening’s entertainment, which includes an auction/raffle, after-dinner speakers and presentations on the work Project Gambia do in Africa.

And the Project Gambia team have enlisted the help of Sally Fraser, who will coordinate and manage the ball. Sally is an international events student at Glasgow Caledonian University and the charity are thrilled that she has come on board to help.

Aid worker Frank Devine, who helps run the charity, said: “We are delighted with the manner in which Sally has gone about her business organising such a prestigious and top-end event to raise money for St John’s School for the Deaf, Serrekunda, Gambia.

“She is an excellent young women with brilliant fundraising ideas and is totally dedicated and focused on ensuring that the Project Gambia Grand Summer Ball will be a glittering success.

“We will have tons of other stuff still to be announced and we are sure Project Gambia’s inaugural grand summer ball will be one of the highlights of summer 2018.”

For all table/ticket enquiries for the ball, which will take place at the Alona Hotel, Strathclyde Country Park, Motherwell, on Saturday, June 30, 2018, please contact Sally Fraser at projectgambiaball@gmail.com.
