Race staff go the distance to welcome hip hop star

-

Staff at Hamilton Park Racecourse are gearing up to give X Factor star Honey G a warm welcome this weekend – by copying her signature outrageous style.

The larger-than-life rapper is set to appear at the venue’s family extravaganza, the Sunday Mail Highland Show Racenight, on Saturday, July 15.

She will be appearing alongside fellow X Factor alum, Reggie ‘N’ Bollie and Ryan Lawrie, as well as top tribute band Little Mix Magic.

And Hamilton Park staff got into the swing of things early by donning their Honey G style hats, sunglasses and gold chains and striking their best hip hop poses.

Ashley Moon, head of marketing and operations at Hamilton Park, said: “The Highland Show Racenight is all about fun – and Honey G certainly embodies that. We wanted to start the party a little early and decided to pay homage to her ahead of her big performance.

“It didn’t take much coaxing to get the team sporting their hip hop outfits and posing up a storm – we definitely have a few wannabe rappers in our midst.

“We can’t wait for all the fantastic acts and amazing activities we have planned for families at the Highland Show Racenight on July 15 – it’s going to be a truly ‘mega’ event for all ages.”

The Sunday Mail Highland Show Racenight is bursting with things to do, promising to be the ultimate family day out, from noon until late.

As well as busting a move and singing along to their favourite hits from Reggie ‘N’ Bollie, Ryan Lawrie, Little Mix Magic and Honey G, families can enjoy a host of super-cool Highland Show activities that kids big and small will love, with themed ‘zones’ keeping the fun going all day long.

Highlights will include a petting zoo, pony rides, laser tag, bungee trampolines and a host of family-friendly games, including a coconut shy, hoopla, beat the goalie and Denver’s Den.

Clydesdale Horses and the Mordor Gun Dogs will be in attendance on the day, alongside the Army, who will showcase various vehicles and equipment. Visitors can also enjoy live falconry, sheep and duck herding, wood carving, a gauntlet assault course and a display of farming and road vehicles.

Following the day’s live racing action and entertainment, there will be a live DJ set from Capital FM.

The Sunday Mail Highland Show Racenight is part of the ground-breaking Super Saturday series, which launched with huge success last year. The concept, a first in UK racing, offers racegoers an unforgettable all-day experience with entertainment from noon followed by live evening racing.

Tickets for the extended, entertainment-packed event are on sale now, at £25 if you buy through www.hamiltonpark.co.uk during the advance booking period or £30 if you wait to buy on the day.

Gates open at noon. Under-18s get in free and under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Twofor-one Super Saturday fixture tickets are also available, offering three events for £60 when booked online in advance.
