2 MORE TITLES FOR ON-FIRE BRANDON

- Andy Mcgilvray

Brandon Murray added two more British titles to his roster at Ravenscraig recently, but is now looking further afield for competitions.

Brandon (12) from Hamilton took the WKA British full contact title at Rivals Gym in June, but then won -40kg light contact on the mat and also full contact in the ring from the WKA British Open Championships at Ravenscraig.

All of that attracted the attention of his first ever sponsor – Maximum Power Gym in Bellshill – and Brandon is over the moon, but needs a new challenge.

Mum Vicky said: “Brandon won against some tough opponents with kids up from England and over from Ireland and fought an English boy in the light contact final on the Saturday, but showed some real class and fought intelligently, he was in tip-top shape.

“On the Sunday he fought really well, against the same boy as on the Saturday, and he was really good, but Brandon stopped him in the first round.

“He was strong, determined, focused, and you could see that in the ring.

“In his second fight he won it in 16 seconds with a cracker of a kick to the stomach – there were people saying Snapchat is longer than that!

“Brandon is on form, he was buzzing from the title he won at Rivals Gym the week before, and he is very much on fire.

“He got changed out of his contact suit and into his kit for Eddlewood Boys’ Club and helped them to win a tournament at Ravenscraig straight fight, as well!”

Vicky added: “It has been a really good couple of weeks for Brandon, and he’s really boosted by getting his first sponsor.

“Brandon went to see him, showed him his portfolio, and it means a lot to him to be recognised in this way. after his last

“He’s in the paper, people know who he is, but he has never had a sponsor before.

“He’ll get a new contact suit, which we will design and get it made. It really is a real boost to him.”

Next up for Brandon is the WKA Scottish Open at Ravenscraig on August 12, then he will have a scheduled ring fight in September.

Vicky said: “What we really want to start talking about is a European fight outside of Scotland or even England.

“There are events in Poland and places like that, and we would like to get to them, but that costs money and for that we really need a sponsor.”
