Ami stunned as boyfriend Jacob pops question at her graduation at town House
A Hamilton student was shocked when her boyfriend got down on one knee and proposed at her graduation.
Ami Mcdonald had just graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with a BSC Honours in Sports Coaching at Hamilton Town House when Jacob Millsom took her back into the venue.
The 24 year-old thought she was going on the stage to get pictures taken when all of a sudden she heard Jacob’s voice over the mic and turned around to find him down on one knee with a ring in hand.
Ami, who also works at the Town House, said: “I had no idea that Jacob was going to pop the question — it made an amazing day even better!
“I was so surprised when he got on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes!
“He put so much thought and planning into it — I was speechless!”
Jacob, from Wishaw, decided to make Ami’s graduation a day they would never forget by to asking her to marry him on the same day, in the same venue.
He said: “When Ami graduated from college with her HND, I had an idea that on her next graduation from uni I would propose.
“It was in my head since then, so I got to work planning it all.
“Graduation is such an important day and I thought it made sense to make it a double celebration and ask Ami to marry me — thankfully she said yes!
“It will be a day that neither Ami, her family or I will ever forget!”
Ami said: “I still can’t believe it, we have already booked our engagement party, but we will hold off on the wedding plans until we buy a house together.”
Jacob (25) added: “So many people contributed to make the proposal a success and I would like to thank Christine Sadler the jewellers for making the ring, Ceejays kilt hire in Holytown for the kilt, Robin Marshall for photographs and Margaret Hutton at UWS.”
