Hundreds of coffee lovers are expected to pay Scotland’s largest Starbucks Drive Thru a visit this week as the chain opens their first store in Hamilton today (Thursday).

The popular coffee chain opened its doors (and drive thru window) this morning (Thursday, July 27) at 6am after months of refurbishments.

Starbucks announced their plans to open in the old Carphone Warehouse unit in the Palace Grounds back in January setting social media sites into a steaming hot frenzy.

The coffee chain has also created 20 new jobs for the area.

The Hamilton Advertiser were invited along to a special sneak preview of the new store and were excited to see all the final touches before the grand unveiling.

Store manager Louise Purdie said the Starbucks Hamilton team have been working hard to prepare for the opening.

She said: “The whole team have been working really hard training and setting up the new store, we are really excited about it.

“We were delighted to employ staff from the local area too.”

“At Starbucks, we like to help out in the local community so we will be working with Kilbride Hospice and will be doing some fundraising within our store.”

“We are looking forward to opening our doors tomorrow and seeing everyone for a coffee!”

Area manager Gordon Campbell said that he was delighted with how the new store has come together. He said: “We’re really excited to be opening tomorrow morning.

“Starbucks prides itself in great quality coffee and fantastic surroundings and we hope the people of Hamilton will appreciate the new drive thru concept.”

The new store is over 3000 square feet and seats over access to free Wifi.
