Fandabidozi day for Crafty Ladies club

-

Everything was fandabidozi at Fairhill Lifestyles when a couple of showbiz legends dropped in to meet the ladies of a craft group based at the centre.

As part of a tour of community clubs and groups around Scotland to mark the year when they both turn 70, the Krankies popped in to add some extra laughs and fun to the weekly meeting of the Crafty Ladies club. And the much-loved husbandand-wife duo of Janette and Ian Tough chatted with the ladies and were only too happy to have pictures taken to give everyone a lasting reminder of their visit.

The club is run by South Lanarkshire Council community support worker Phyllis Wilson, who explained how the visit came about.

She said: “We are a group who meet once a week to produce craft work in a variety of forms, but we also from time to time enjoy trips and outings, and one of the most popular of those in the past has been to see the Krankies in the pantomime.

“When we heard that they weren’t doing panto in Glasgow this year, we were so disappointed – but when I spotted that they were doing this tour, I contacted them with the attitude of ‘nothing ventured, nothing gained’.

“Imagine how we all felt when they came back to us to say they would like to pop in to see us! It has been a wonderful experience for us to meet such popular and genuinely nice people, and the looks on the ladies’ faces made it all worthwhile.”

The visit to the Fairhillbased group came on the last day of the duo’s 800-mile trip around Scotland.

Ian said: “It has been wonderful to see all these amazing people across the country, over the course of this week. We set out to visit people involved in good causes all over the country and it has been uplifting to meet them.”
