Pre-season friendlies round-up

Blantyre Vics followed up their 3-2 midweek win at Arthurlie by drawing 3-3 with Whitburn at the KG Stadium on Saturday.

Fraser Allan, Jake Hughes and Declan Brown were on target at Arthurlie.

Sam Mckenzie opened the scoring against Whitburn, who took a 2-1 lead, but Dale Jones equalised from the spot and Jack Hughes scored the third.

Larkhall Thistle won 4-2 at Abbey Vale, where an own-goal gave Jags a 1-0 lead. Graham Gracie, Niall Reynolds and Dillon Mcdonald were the other marksmen.

Thistle now face Super Premier League side Kirkintill­och Rob Roy at Gasworks Park on Saturday.

Lesmahagow beat Drumoyne’s Bengal Lancers 3-2 last Wednesday, with goals from Lewis Mcdougall, Colin Kirwan and Daryl Mcdonald.

Saturday’s proposed friendly against Ashington in Newcastle was called off, and on Tuesday ’Gow played Stirling University.

Carluke Rovers went down 3-1 against semi-profession­al outfit Abbey Hey from Manchester, who scored a fourth-minute opener.

Rovers soon equalised when Mark Haddow headed in a Mark Weir cross.

The second half was only a couple of minutes old when they made it 2-1, then added a third in 67 minutes.

The last chance of the match fell to Carluke, when Steve Murray outjumped everyone to head an Ian Watt free kick off the underside of the bar.

Lanark United went down 3-2 at home to Alloa Athletic Under-20s, who took a 2-0 lead.

Jordan Munn pulled one back, but Alloa added a third from a penalty.

Then 16-year-old Lewis Noble, son of former Cambuslang stalwart Andy, netted a cracker on his debut.

United are now away to Blackburn United on Saturday.

Wishaw drew 2-2 at Armadale Thistle on Saturday, with Ryan Smillie firing his side into a 1-0 interval lead, then adding a second early in the second half, but Thistle rallied and drew level.

Wishaw played Fauldhouse at the Beltane last night (Wednesday) and on Saturday head east to take on Newtongran­ge Star.
