Theatre group’s cash boost for guide dogs

- Kirsten Mcstay

The Guide Dogs charity have been given a cash boost recently from a Lanarkshire-based threatre club.

The Dalziel High School Former Pupil Association Easter Egg Club presented a cheque for £1000 to the charity.

This year was a special milestone for the club as they celebrated 70 years since their first ever show.

They celebrated in style with their very successful production‘ celebrate Good Times’, which was a huge success.

The show, which featured a wide range of music, stunning costumes and spectacular effects ensured that each evening the audience joined in the celebrations with the cast members.

The club were also delighted that the bucket collections, held during show week, helped support such a worthwhile charity.

The Easter Egg show has had a range of formats over the years and 2018 will continue to bring more changes and surprises. One main change for the club is that next year’s show will be held in Motherwell Concert Hall from April 19 until April 21 and will be a departure from their usual theatre.

If you enjoy singing and being part of a friendly, sociable club why don’t you go along when they resume on Thursday, September 21.

The club are always happy to welcome new or previous members, especially male.

Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7.15pm to 9.30pm and run up until Christmas and also on Sundays from 2pm until 5pm from January.

If you are interested in taking part and would like further details, contact club secretary Judi Neilson on 01698 322867. The club also have a concert party group who regularly entertain church groups etc. This can be arranged by contacting the secretary.
