Pressure is all on Dons

-

Hamilton winger David Templeton says Aberdeen will be favourites to win their league opener at Pittodrie on Sunday – but is confident his side can provide a shock.

Templeton got the first of what he hopes are many goals this season in the 3-0 win over Stenhousemuir, and wants that to continue in Aberdeen.

He said:“that will be a difficult game; they’re a very good side, especially at home, so it’s always tough going up there.

“They’ve started their European campaign well, so it will be a tough place to go, but we’re looking forward to it and looking to get the league football started again.

“The pressure is on them, I think that goes from how well they did last season, so they will be expected to win, but we want to go up there and get a good result as well, so hopefully we can do that.

“I played against them a lot with Hearts and I think I managed to get a couple of goals as well, so hopefully if selected I can get a couple more.”

Templeton added:“it’s nice to get off the mark and I hope to get a lot more this season, so hopefully I can kick on.

“The main thing was to win, score a few goals and qualify.

“Pre-season has been massive. I missed a couple of days when we were away with a niggle in my foot, but the gaffer has told me to go at my own pace, he hasn’t rushed me.”
