HOCKEY CAMP KIDS STICK TO THEIR TASK
Over 200 attend Uddingston classes
More than 200 youngsters have taken part in Uddingston Hockey Club’s summer camps as they reached the midway point last week.
Backed by club sponsor Palazzo Kitchen and Bathrooms, the club have welcomed boys and girls aged from four to 16 to the camps from 26 schools across South and North Lanarkshire and Glasgow. Open to members and non-members alike, the camps offer an ideal environment for kids to have fun, be active and sociable during the holiday period, and play hockey within the safe and secure grounds of Bothwell Castle Policies.
A typical day at camp involves registration at 10am, the kids then head down to the club’s world-class facility, which boasts a hockey-specific water-based Astro-turf pitch, where they warm up before taking part in drills, delivered by UKCC Level 2 coaches.
Children bring their own lunches and socialise with other children in the clubhouse before heading back out in the afternoon to play games and competitions before the camp ends at 3pm.
The club also offer an extended time option where children can be dropped from 8am for breakfast and collected at 5pm to assist working parents.
A club spokesperson said: “Children get an incredible experience, learning a sport that is now growing in popularity following GB women winning Olympic gold and the Scotland team reaching the World League Competition semi-finals last month.”
Prices are £15 for individual days or £60 for the full week.
