Waiting is over for exam kids
Strong performance from North and South Lanarkshire
St John Ogilvie High School have once again been celebrating the achievements of their pupils in the National SQA examinations.
No fewer than 44 per cent of the S4 year group (77 students) attained at least five National 5 awards (AC), while 34 per cent of the S5 youngsters (59 students) attained at least three Highers.
Both of these statistics are record performances for the school.
Furthermore, 16 fourth-year pupils attained A passes in all seven National 5 examinations and a further ten attained six A passes and a B.
In fifth year, 23 teens attained five Highers in one sitting and four of them – Kira Gray, Albin Thomas, Ryan Cran and Marika Puchala, – achieved A passes in all five of their Highers.
Head teacher Eddie Morrison was delighted with the performance of his pupils.
He told the Advertiser this week: “On every level the students have really excelled themselves across the board. The level of excellence achieved by them is testimony to themselves, their parents and carers and, of course, their teachers, who worked tirelessly with them throughout the year. Of course, these results are only part of the picture of achievement for our students, who have also so much to be proud of in their contributions to the school and to their communities and parishes.
“We have to remember at all times that examination results only tell part of the story and in September our awards ceremony will celebrate all of the achievements of our young people. It will be a great occasion.”
