Swapping heels for hiking boots
Miss Scotland finalist Anita Walls is pulling on her hiking boots next week to trek up Ben Nevis in the latest in a series of fundraisers.
The 21-year-old law graduate from Motherwell will be climbing Scotland’s highest peak to raise cash for St Andrew’s Hospice in Airdrie.
All of the finalists in the beauty contest pick a good cause for which they raise cash and awareness.
Anita said: “I’ve opened up a Just Giving page to raise funds, and it is overwhelming to get so much support from the community.
“I picked St Andrew’s Hospice as I have had family members who have had to go into the hospice for care, so I really appreciate the work they do.
“When I was at Dalziel High School we were always told about the hard work of the hospice, so it seemed only natural to keep going with the one I connect with and already know a lot about.”
St Andrew’s hospice posted on their Facebook page: “Thank you for choosing to support St Andrew’s Hospice, Anita.
“We wish you the very best of luck for your Ben Nevis climb and in the Miss Scotland final.”
The blonde beauty said the past few weeks have been busy, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. She said: “It’s been good and very busy! I’ve been doing quite a lot with St Andrew’s Hospice like organising events and fundraising and we have had fitness challenges and visiting Scottish exhibitions recently with the competition, so it’s really flew in!”
The Miss Scotland final will take place in the Double Tree Hilton hotel in Glasgow on August 24.
