All over the country, there are dance classes for children that are fun,exciting and certainly a great way to get fit.

Surely the secret to losing weight and getting fit, is to find an activity that is fun and exciting to do.

Not everyone is competitiv­e and into team sports, so dancing could be the activity that will encourage youngsters to get moving.

Different schools have different styles on offer and there are plenty of choices available.

Whether you enjoy modern street dance and hip hop, or more traditiona­l tap and jazz, there will be a school that suits everyone’s ability.

It has never been easier to find a dance school, the majority of them will all advertise online or on social media.

Do a little research and be sure of what each school offers before you enrol.

Ask about fees and find out if there is a weekly payment or perhaps an annual subscripti­on.

Inquire about what equipment and costumes you may have to buy and don’t be scared to establish what these might cost.

See if there are exam gradings involved or if the classes are purely for recreation.

And, most importantl­y, explain to your children what is involved in the activity before taking them along.

Dance schools are a great way for kids to get fit and active and, who knows, you may have the next Darcy Bussell budding ballerina on your hands.
