- Shirley Bartynek

Hamilton College have announced an “outstanding” set of SQA examination results for 2017.

Across National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher levels, pupils achieved a high percentage of pass rates.

At Advanced Higher, 100 per cent of pupils secured an A-C pass – while 91 per cent of Higher pupils gained a pass between A-C and the National 5 pass rate for A-C was 93 per cent.

Principal Tom Mcphail said: “The results this year are a tremendous achievement and are a testament to the hard work of both our young people and their dedicated teachers.”

Hamilton College results are consistently positive across subjects, and 50 per cent of all Advance Higher results were As, 42 per cent of Higher results were As and in National 5 courses, 60 per cent of results were As.

This year’s results highlight a continued positive trend in the number of As achieved over previous years at Hamilton College.

They also compare exceptionally well with other schools in both the independent and state sectors.

Their Advanced Higher pass rate of 100 per cent compares with the national average of 80 per cent and a Higher A-C pass rate of 91 per cent compares with the national average of 77 per cent.

And the results will see pupils leaving Hamilton College to progress to top universities throughout Scotland and the UK to read for a wide variety of degrees across various disciplines.

Mr Mcphail added: “My sincere congratulations to our pupils on what are excellent examination results.

“When coupled with the wide range of other endeavours our young people take part in, the results continue to highlight the positive progress being made.

“As a school we are proud of you all and would wish all pupils who are moving on the very best for their futures.”
