Speaker Jack Blackwood talked about the Rotary Curling World Championships, which will be held in Hamilton during April 2018.
This is a bi-annual event in which teams from Canada, USA, England and Scotland compete, and is held under the auspices of the International Curling Fellowship of Rotarians.
In addition to the raising of funds for charitable causes, there is a strong emphasis on fellowship.
And in addition to what is anticipated to be hard-fought contests on the rinks, there will be opportunities to meet and socialise with players and their spouses. There will be visits to Scottish places of interest such as Livingstone’s memorial, Stirling Castle and Chatelherault.
Local Rotarians are invited to host a dinner in their house for four or six visitors, and there will be a closing banquet held at Hamilton Race Course.
The arrangements are being organised by The Rotary Club of East Kilbride, of which Mr Blackwood is a past-president.
After an interesting evening, a vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Tom May.
