Harvest Christian Fellowship

We meet every Sunday, 10.30am at Hillhouse Community Centre. This Sunday’s service will be led by David Geddes and will be followed by refreshmen­ts. We would love to see you.

An amazing week of fun and crafts was had at our Superheroe­s Holiday Club with over 40 children attending each day. We look forward to welcoming the kids back to our Monday Club which starts back on Monday, September 4. St John The Baptist Church, Uddingston

Our RCIA Group will begin again on Tuesday, August 22, at 7.30pm in the small hall for anyone interested to hear more about the Catholic faith. The session lasts about an hour and concludes with tea and chat. Why not come along and meet this friendly group and respond to God’s call ? He loves each one of us greatly and wants us all to be part of His family. All enquiries welcome and in strict confidence.

The Mary’s Meals Group are having a coffee morning this Sunday, August 20, after the 10am Mass. Helpers and home baking would be greatly appreciate­d.

The SVDP are planning a bus trip to Largs on Tuesday, August 29, providing sufficient numbers are interested so please add your name to sheet in church porch.

The annual Charity Golf Competitio­n will take place on Sunday, September 3, at Bellshill Golf Club in aid of Mary’s Meals, supporting Memories Network and the Ozanam Club. Donations and sponsorshi­p would be greatly appreciate­d.

Masses and Services from our parish are available on the web. Go to www.saintjohnb­aptist.org and click on the box that says ‘live cam.’ On Monday the Padre Pio Prayer Group meet after the 9.30am Mass. The SVDP meet at 6.30pm on Tuesday. On Wednesdays a Divine Mercy Hour begins at 7pm in the Oratory and a Prayer and Praise Group from 8pm-9pm. The prayer garden is open Mondays to Saturdays 10am-7pm. Church cleaning is on Friday mornings after Mass if anyone would like to help. Sunday Masses: vigil 4.30pm, 10am, noon, 6pm. Weekday Mass: 9.30am daily. Confession­s: Saturday 9-9.25am and after vigil Mass.

Blantyre Old Church

Sunday, August 20, is our 450th anniversar­y celebratio­n service when we welcome the Right Reverend Dr Derek Browning, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland together with other guests. Service starts at the usual time of 11am followed by a light lunch in the hall. All welcome. Items for inclusion in the Parish Newsletter should be emailed to dunsmoreja­mes@gmail.com or placed in the contributi­ons box in the vestibule.

Blantyre Livingston­e Memorial Church

Sunday morning service will commence at 11.30am, and Reverend Murdo Mcdonald will lead the praise. This will be a joint service with St Andrew’s Parish Church and everyone is welcome to attend.

Please go through to the large hall for a cup of tea/coffee before going home. You will be made most welcome.

Brew ‘n’ Blether will start this coming Thursday, August 17– and will be held in the large hall. This will commence at 10.30am until noon. Please come along and enjoy a warm cup and a blether with friends. Everyone welcome.

Gilmour and Whitehill Church

We look forward to our united service on Sunday, August 20, when Rev Alasdair Gordon, Interim Moderator of our linked charge, will lead our worship. The service starts at 10.45 am and a, warm welcome awaits all. Tea and coffee are served after the service which gives time to chat and catch up.

As a celebratio­n of the united services which have been held during the summer months, we will be serving a light lunch in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care after the service on Sunday, August 27. We do hope folks will stay behind to enjoy the food and fellowship, and, if they wish make a small monetary donation towards this special charity.

Our coffee lounge area is open every weekday between 10 and noon. Please drop in if you are in the area.

St John’s Church Hamilton

Time To Worship at St John’s Church Hamilton will be led by Rev Joanne Hood at 10.30am on August 20 when all will be made most welcome. Tea and coffee will be served in the forum after the service. Sundown Service will be held at 9pm.

The churches in Hamilton are participat­ing together in two sponsored events on September 9 and 10, to raise funds for Christian Aid .On Saturday, September 9, there will be a seven mile sponsored walk at Whitelee Windfarm, Eaglesham, and on Sunday, September 10, there is an event for youths aged 10-14 years. Details can be obtained from Hamilton Old Parish Church and from St John’s.

St John’s Centre will reopen on Monday, August 21 at 10am. Open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.

Hamilton West Parish Church

Our next joint service with our linked partners of Gilmour and Whitehill will be at Gilmour Church on Sunday, August 20, at 10.45 am and will be led by our Interim Moderator the Rev. Alasdair Gordon. Come along, all are welcome to attend. Tea and coffee is available after the service.

Hillhouse Parish Church

Our service is as always from 10.45am and will be led by Rev Christophe­r Rankine, our Sunday School restarts on Sunday, August 20 at the same time as the church, any children who would like to come along and meet up with friends are welcome to join us, the Sunday School meets in the large hall and the teachers would love to meet you there.

Our youth organisati­ons Girls Brigade on Tuesdays from 6pm and Boys’ Brigade on Fridays from 6pm are about to restart. On Friday, August 25, the Boys Brigade ask that parents meet at 7pm to register and complete the relevant documentat­ion relating to their sons.

On Wednesday, August 23, Joyce’s Voices restarts at 1.30pm in the main hall, this is a singing group and if anyone male or female who enjoys singing would like to join the group feel free to come to the church and speak to Joyce Struthers who leads the choir.

Yvonne Watson, who leads the church choir, is also looking to increase the membership and would be pleased to have anyone interested to come and speak to her.

Blantyre Congregati­onal Church

On Sunday, August 20, our morning worship begins at 11am and will be led by our minister Rev Malcolm J. Anderson. Our Sunday School holiday club also meet within the Church hall at 11am and is led by Christine Maclellan. Our Reader for Sunday is Sheena Henderson. There is a vestry meeting of the Festival of Remembranc­e core group after our service. If you require pastoral assistance Reverend Anderson can be contacted on 01698 427209.

Dalserf Church

Sunday Worship on August 20, in Dalserf at 11.30am conducted by the Rev John Stevenson.

Tea and coffee with a wide choice of our famous home baking continues in Hamilton Hall, Dalserf Village noon – 4pm. Only two weeks left, August 1926. Come along and enjoy a time of excellent hospitalit­y and friendly fellowship.

Our Open Day will be held in Hamilton Hall on Saturday, September 2. Our Girls Brigade will enrol on Monday, August 21 between 6.30pm and 7.30pm in Rorison Church, Ashgill.

Quarter Parish Church

On Sunday our morning worship will be conducted by Rev Donald Lawrie at 9.45am. Please come along and join us in our worship.

Hamilton Baptist Church

The service at 10.45 am on Sunday, August 20, will be led by the Pastoral Assistant, Robbie Toop. After the morning service, two members of the congregati­on will be available to pray with anyone feeling the need of prayer. Light refreshmen­ts will be served in the halls after the morning service and everyone is encouraged to join in this time of informal fellowship. The evening service at 6.30pm will be led by Peter Kinnon, Senior Deacon. The annual golf outing will be held on Saturday, August 26, at Kinross. Hamilton South Parish Church

The Service on Sunday, August 27 is a Family Service and the Sunday School will be taking part. This is a most enjoyable service and we welcome any visitors. Ice cream will be obtainable after the service- courtesy of the M.E.D. Group.

The church organisati­ons are now back in session and we welcome anyone wishing to join either of them. Our Brownies are now meeting on a Wednesday at 6.30pm and any girl between seven and 10 years of age are eligible to join... so come along on a Wednesday for a ‘taster’. You will enjoy taking part! The Craft Sharing team meet on Monday at 10am and the Prayer Group at 6.30pm.

The Wednesday Fellowship meets at 9.30am followed by the Coffee Shop at 10am.

The Nearly New Shop is open from 11.30am till 2pm.

Come along and secure a bargain! In the evening the Snowdrops meet at 5.30pm, the Brownies at 6.30pm and the Guides at 7.30pm.

Visitors are most welcome to any of our services or to join our Organisati­ons.

Hamilton United Services Club

On Sunday, August 20, worship will be led by Revd. Derek G. Corner, Retired URC Minister.

The service begins at 11am and be followed by refreshmen­ts served in the hall.
