Self-directed support
Hamilton’s Blameless charity will hold a celebration day in memory of one of their workers.
Angela Bordon, of Carluke, died following a road crash near Longford on July 4.
A fun day will be held on Saturday, September 23, at Hamilton Accies stadium, from noon. South Lanarkshire Selfdirected Support Network are holding a meeting in Hamilton next month.
They will be at Fairhill Lifestyles Centre on Tuesday, October 3, from 1pm to 4pm.
Self-directed support allows people with various needs to take charge of their care and promote independent living; for instance, deciding how the money for their care should be best spent for their individual needs.
It gives people an allocation of money from social work services and the network are a group of people residing in South Lanarkshire (in receipt of or who have an interest in self-directed support) who meet to share concerns, ideas, learn from each other’s experiences and help solve problems by working together.
Guests on October 3 will include Audit Scotland, who will give a presentation on their recently-published audit of self-directed support.
South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnership will talk about the implementation of selfdirected support in the area.
The event is free, but to book a place, email secretary@selfdirectnetwork. org.uk.
