Up and down night at the Ro­tary club

Hamil­ton Ro­tary Club wel­comed­vicki Mccluskey, pres­i­dent of the Ups and Downs the­atre group, to their reg­u­lar Thurs­day evening meet­ing.

The award-win­ning group is made up made up of chil­dren and young adults with Down’s syn­drome and their sib­lings.

Ups and Downs was formed in 1995 and the fol­low­ing year they staged their pop­u­lar show at Mother­well Civic Cen­tre.

Since then, the an­nual show has gone from strength to strength and the young­sters now per­form at Hamil­ton Town House.

Their next run of per­for­mances will be in March 2018.

The au­di­ence for the main an­nual show has grown from 1500 to 3500 peo­ple

Ro­tary mem­bers en­joyed a lengthy Q&A ses­sion with Vicki, who was ably sup­ported by young stu­dents from the the­atre group.

The group has per­formed at The Royal High­land Show, The Ed­in­burgh Fes­ti­val and also won a Great Scot award.
