Put your best foot forward for sponsored walk

Blantyre Old Parish Church’s annual sponsored walk will take place around the town on Sunday, October 1.

The event, which is always well supported, with no less than 60 walkers, will begin at 2pm, with participants leaving from the church grounds. Church spokesman Billy Gallacher explained:“there will be two routes available for those taking part - one lasting an hour and another shorter walk that will take about 30 minutes.

“It is a great family fun afternoon with lots of giggles so please come along for a great day out and later enjoy tea, coffee and refreshments with some friendly faces in the church hall. All welcome.”

Fancy dress is optional on the day with great prizes for best costume.

Medals will also be presented the children after the walk as well as tea, coffee and pies in the main hall for all. Last year’s event raised more than £1700 for church funds and it is hoped that this year’s event will be even bigger and better.

So don your trainers and put your best foot forward to help raise money for a good cause and have a great day of fun at the same time.
