Mixed fortunes for Second Division sides

-

Carluke Rovers drew 1-1 at home to Vale of Clyde to retain their unbeaten record after four games in the Central Second Division and cling on to top slot with 10 points.

They trailed 1-0 at the interval but stepped up their threat and after Vale had a man sent off Ian Watt’s shot was steered home by Greg Haley.

Rovers’ Gary Gow was sent off.

Royal Albert beat Bellshill 2-1, moving into fifth slot on seven points.

Kieran Chalmers put Bellshill ahead, but Scott Ballantyne equalised ahead of the interval, and then Chris Dolan set up Alan Campbell to clinch the points.

Albert boss Jamie Nesbitt said: “It was a brilliant performance to clinch a second win on the trot.”

Bellshill manager Robert Sneddon said: “We had chances but not the confidence to finish them.”

Lanark United were without four regulars as they went down 3-2 at Johnstone Burgh.

Stuart Annetts equalised Scott Arthur’s penalty, but David Anderson and Arthur put them 3-1 ahead. Ben Fraser got Lanark’s other goal.

Jack Stubbs, Sean Mckenna and Kyle Gallagher were injured during the game, halting United’s momentum.
