“Kindness of the public after I lost Jaime has helped me in my darkest hour”

Mum of tragic tot on how local people have brought her comfort

- Kirsten Mcstay

The heartbroken Hamilton mum who lost her five-monthold baby has thanked the public for their generosity after £2000 was raised in his name.

Little Jaime Donnelly passed away at Wishaw General Hospital on Sunday, September 3, after a congenital heart defect went undetected.

His devastated mum Heather Hinshelwood thanked the public for their kind donations following our story last week.

The 37-year-old said: “This fundraising has been a great support in my complete darkest hours.

“I just want to help others in Jaime’s name.

“Anything I can do to help other people in this situation I will, because there are just no words to describe how this feels.

“Jaime was a healthy, happy baby.”

She added: “Jaime was an absolute pleasure. He was so content and meeting all the milestones he was supposed to. All I have left is to try to help others in his wee memory. My heart is breaking.

“Thank you to every single person who has donated and shared the page.”

Jaime died on September 3 after a congenital heart defect went undetected.

He stopped breathing and was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital where he passed away.

Family friend Carolann Guthrie set up a Justgiving page with an original target of £500, but the funds are currently sitting at just over £2200.

Some of the money raised will go towards a cuddle cot in Wishaw General and the rest will go to the Brightest Star charity, which raises awareness and funds to support families who have lost children.
