Hamilton butcher serves up pie award

A Hamilton butcher’s pies have been deemed worthy of national recognition at the recent Scottish Craft Butchers Awards.

Henderson of Hamilton – who are based in the town’s Newcross Centre – won an award in the 2017 Scottish Craft Butchers Steak Pie, Speciality Pie and Mince Round Evaluation.

They picked up a silver award for their mince round.

The heats were held at Forth Valley College last month and more than 250 pies from throughout the country were tested for appearance, flavour, filling and appeal.

A panel of judges included experts, food writers and interested consumers and the event was organised by the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders in conjunction with Lucas Ingredients and William Sword Ltd.
