B*witched Christmas
Band set for switch-on
Hamilton shoppers are set to be taken on a Rollercoaster ride for this year’s Christmas lights switch-on.
Irish superstars B*witched will be in town for the big event on Saturday, November 25, headlining a day filled with festive fun and entertainment.
The group consists of twin sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch, Lindsay Armaou and Sinead O’carroll.
Originally active between 1997 and 2002, they enjoyed success in Europe, Asia, Australasia and North America, releasing two albums and eight singles, all of which made the UK Top 20.
Their first four singles – C’est La Vie, Rollercoaster, To You I Belong and Weatherman – all reached number one in the UK Singles Chart.
In 2002, having sold over five million albums worldwide, B*witched split up when Sinead decided to leave the band.
Ten years later, in October 2012, it was announced that B*witched would reunite for the Hit ITV2 reality-documentary series, The Big Reunion.
The show followed six of the biggest pop bands of the late 90s as they reunited for the first time in a decade and rehearsed ahead of a comeback performance at the Hammersmith Apollo in February 2013.
Due to the huge success of The Big Reunion, B*witched along with the other bands embarked on two sell-out arena tours of the UK and Ireland.
In May 2013, B*witched unveiled a new song called Love and Money, followed by an EP, entitled Champagne or Guinness, in September 2014.
The band’s C’est La Vie – The Collection, Delux CD was released last year, and the four-piece have travelled all over the world playing since.
Gareth Walker, of Hamilton Business Improvement District, the event organisers, said: “We are very excited to be bringing another top act to the town centre for the Christmas light switch-on.
“I am sure everyone will enjoy singing along to B*witched’s chart hits. Their first four singles all reached number one in the UK Singles Chart, so I am sure we will be in for an excellent show.
“This year’s Christmas light switch-on show will also feature Clyde 2’s Gina Mckee and a host of family entertainment though out the day.”
