Gymnasts scoop medals
Members of Hamilton Gymnastics Club struck gold, silver and bronze when they took part in the Celebration of Life competition in Cumbernauld earlier this month.
The club’s new gym in Blantyre Industrial Estate seems to be doing the trick, because the Artistic Section racked up a massive haul of medals.
It was the first time many of the girls were trying out new skills ahead of national competitions, and the results were extremely positive.
In Level 5 (age eight) Katie Dobson won silver and Summer Gordon placed in fourth.
Level 5 for nine-year-olds saw Victoria Allen win bronze while Erin Devine was placed in sixth.
In the 10-11 years section of Level 5, Beth Fallow completed a clean competition, finishing third.
Level 4 for nine-year-olds saw Bonnie Mccann placed fourth and Brodie Cunningham fifth.
Georgie Miller won the gold medal after a fantastic round in Level 3 for 10-11 years. The 12-13 years section of Level saw Abbie Nicoll maintain the 3 gold streak, finishing first, with Beth Jardine second and Jenna Grant also had a fantastic competition.
In the elite FIG competition, Kennedi Foster finished fifth, while fellow elite gymnast Grace Muir used the competition to help her preparations for the upcoming grades and then the British Championships.
Coach Wendy Allen was delighted with the performance over the two days and said: “I was really pleased with all the gymnasts’ efforts.
“It was a really good warm-up competition for the girls, who will all be taking part in the Scottish Grades.
“They all performed fantastically.”
