Having a ball!
Charity night nets thousands for Haven
A Blantyre charity is celebrating after netting thousands of pounds at a glittering fundraiser.
The Haven offers a wide range of support to individuals, families and carers from throughout Lanarkshire who are affected by life-limiting illness.
It also has bases in Wishaw and Forth, and relies heavily on community and corporate funds to maintain its level of service.
Almost 200 guests recently turned out to support The Haven’s annual ball at the Alona Hotel, within Strathclyde Park, raising over £9000.
The evening, hosted by DJ Steve Mckenna, saw performances from the Rock Choir and The Michael Brawley Big Band, while guests enjoyed fizz, fun and fundraising.
Support for the evening came in all forms, from an auction and raffle prizes, sponsorship, volunteer photographer Adam Law and much more.
Haven fundraising officer, David Henson was part of the team that organised the event.
He said: “It was great to see a room full of people enjoying themselves and getting fully involved in all aspects of the evening and helping raise an incredible amount for The Haven.
“It was a blend of existing and new supporters who attended, and some learned more about the wide range of free support services The Haven have to offer, which we hope will help spread awareness and encourage individuals, families and carers to attend.
“The night could not have run so smoothly without our team of Haven volunteers who attended to our guests, and our host and entertainment certainly ensured there was something for everyone on the night.”
He added: “The feedback has been so positive, which makes all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes worth it!
“We really cannot thank everyone enough for their support.
“The Haven Fundraising team are already looking at a date this space!”
Heather Gilfillan attended the night after winning two free tickets in The Haven’s You Shall Go To The Ball competition.
She said: “We all had a great night. I enjoyed every minute from the choir, the big band and the host.
“The meal was lovely and staff were friendly. It was all so well organised. Well done to The Haven team.” for next year, so watch
